The Sons of The American Legion Squadron 40 Glen Burnie Post 40 |
Commanders Message
Commanders Message,
It is such a great honor to again be elected to serve Glen Burnie Squadron 40 as Commander for another year. This year we have a full slate of officers that are ready to get to work on the many events we will be working at and around our Post. Our board consists of a lot of experience within our Squadron. We have six Past Squadron Commanders, four past district commanders, one past Detachment commander and our current Detachment Commander. There probably is not a lot of Squadrons that can say that, however it speaks to the leadership that we have and why we all enjoy the success of getting our work done. Just this past Legion Convention in Ocean City, Squadron 40 was named "The Best Squadron in The Southern Maryland District". What a true honor it was to get the award. That award goes to pay off all the hard work done by so many of our members working the Friday night dinners, crab feast, valentines dance, and our other events. If that work doesn't get done we can't financially support all the many programs we do.
We look forward to another great year and want to thank all the members of the Post 40 Legion Family and everyone else that supports Squadron 40. We are proud that our Detachment Commander Jim Alexander calls our post home and we wish Jim a great year, knowing we are here to support him if he asks. Come out and visit us at a meeting, in the lounge, or at one of our many Post events and have a great time with great people.
